SEC Names New Director of the Division of Corporation Finance

The SEC named James J. Moloney as the agency’s next Director of the Division of Corporation Finance.

Mr. Moloney previously served at the SEC from 1994 to 2000 in the Office of Mergers & Acquisitions. During that time, he was the primary author of Regulation M-A, a set of rules standardizing disclosure and procedural requirements for mergers, tender offers, and proxy solicitations. He is currently a partner and co-chair of the Securities Regulation and Corporate Governance Practice Group in the Orange County, California office at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.  

Acting Director Cicely LaMothe will return to her role as Deputy Director.
