Federal Register: SEC Proposes Amendments to Strengthen EDGAR Administration
An SEC-proposed amendment to the rules on electronic submissions of the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval System ("EDGAR") was published in the Federal Register.
As previously covered, the amendment would add a new rule to Regulation S-T ("General Rules and Regulations for Electronic Filings") to specify actions that the SEC could take to "promote the reliability and integrity of EDGAR submissions." Among other things, the proposed rule would authorize the SEC to (i) "redact, remove, or prevent dissemination of sensitive personally identifiable information that if released may result in financial or personal harm," (ii) "prevent submissions that pose a cybersecurity threat," and (iii) remedy administrative issues relating to EDGAR submissions.
Comments on the proposal must be submitted by October 19, 2020.
