Another Departure Announcement: CFTC Commissioner Kristin Johnson to Step Down
CFTC Commissioner Kristin Johnson said she will leave the agency when her term expires later this year.
Ms. Johnson's announcement comes after CFTC Commissioners Christy Goldsmith Romero and Summer K. Mersinger said they will be leaving the agency at the end of this month.
Ms. Johnson, an appointee of President Biden, provided a "survey" of her work on "risk management for derivatives clearing organizations (DCOs), cyber-resilience, and effective recovery, resilience, and wind-down regulations." She also highlighted her focus on AI integration in financial markets and her sponsorship of the Market Risk Advisory Committee.
In her statement, Ms. Johnson also argued that the agency will need more funding going forward. She said "I believe that the Commission would benefit from increased resources dedicated to enabling several of the Divisions within the Commission to prepare for and meet the challenges of regulating innovative trading, clearing, and settlement technologies."
