CFTC Commissioner Goldsmith Romero to Retire at the End of the Month

CFTC Commissioner Christy Goldsmith Romero will leave the agency on May 31, 2025.

Ms. Goldsmith Romero's statement follows Commissioner Summer K. Mersinger announcement that she will be leaving the agency at the end of the month. (See previous coverage.) 

Brian Quintenz, a President Trump nominee for CFTC Chair, will succeed Goldsmith Romero. He has yet to be confirmed by the Senate. Ms. Goldsmith Romero, who previously announced her intention to resign, (see previous coverage), said she was "honored to conclude her 23 years of federal service at an agency with such an important mission to ensure that financial markets perform their critical role in the U.S. and global economies."
