CFTC Modifies Swap Reporting Technical Specifications

The CFTC modified its swap data reporting technical specifications. The specifications provide detailed instructions for requirements under CFTC Part 43 ("Real Time Public Reporting") and Part 45 ("Swap Data Recordkeeping and Reporting").

The CFTC said that the amendments in Version 3.0 of the CFTC Technical Specifications were "limited" and intended to (i) clarify compliance obligations, (ii) ensure swap data repositories are using the most recent data validations, (iii) align reporting requirements with global standards and (iv) provide framework for SDRs to build compliance engines that can withstand changes in market conditions.
