SEC Extends Comment Deadline for Proposed Rule on Climate-related Disclosures

The SEC extended the comment deadline to June 17, 2022 for its proposed rule on climate-related disclosures. The extension was published in the Federal Register.

As previously covered, the proposed rule is intended to standardize the inclusion and consistency of climate-related disclosures in registration statements and periodic reports. The required information under the proposal includes (i) climate-related risks that could have material impacts on business operations or financials, (ii) certain climate-related financial statement metrics and (iii) disclosure of the registrant's greenhouse gas emissions.
