President Trump Nominates Replacement for CFTC Commissioner Brian D. Quintenz
President Donald J. Trump nominated Robert Benedict Bowes, currently serving at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, to replace CFTC Commissioner Brian D. Quintenz. The nomination is for a term expiring on April 13, 2025. According to a White House release, Mr. Bowes is a Senior Advisor at the Office of Personnel Management managing Health and Insurance. He was formerly the Director of Counterparty Risk at Fannie Mae.
As previously covered, Mr. Quintenz announced in April that he would not seek renomination and that he will remain in his position as a Commissioner until the earlier of Senate confirmation of a successor or October 31, 2020.
