SEC Approves FINRA Amendments for Reporting Data Frequency on Treasury Security Trades

The SEC approved proposed amendments to FINRA Rule 6750 ("Dissemination of Transaction Information") to allow FINRA to more frequently distribute aggregated U.S. Treasury Security transaction information and statistics.

As previously covered, the amendments removed the word "weekly" from the rule, which would (i) provide an accurate understanding into the Treasury market activities and (ii) help mitigate data leakage concerns. FINRA added that it would not publish individual statistics for transactions in U.S. Treasury securities, with certain exceptions, and would continue to provide the information at no cost to market participants. FINRA stated the amendments will "benefit investors and market participants by promoting greater transparency into the U.S. Treasury Securities market while also maintaining the confidentiality of individual market participants and transactions."

The rule became effective upon approval by the SEC.
