FINRA Proposes to Report Data More Frequently on Trading in U.S. Treasury Securities

FINRA proposed rule changes to allow FINRA to distribute more frequently aggregated U.S. Treasury Security transaction information and statistics.

According to FINRA, amendments to remove the word "weekly" from FINRA Rule 6750 ("Dissemination of Transaction Information") would (i) provide an accurate understanding into the Treasury market activities and (ii) help mitigate data leakage concerns.

FINRA also highlighted that:

  • the reported information would not identify individual market participants or transactions;

  • the information would not include data by individual Treasury Securities; and

  • the information would be offered free of charge.
