SEC Commissioner Robert J. Jackson, Jr. to Step Down from Agency

Steven Lofchie Commentary by Steven Lofchie

Commissioner Robert J. Jackson, Jr. will step down from his position on February 14, 2020.

Mr. Jackson was nominated to his position by President Donald J. Trump in 2017. Prior to joining the SEC, Mr. Jackson was a Columbia Law School professor and the Director of the Program on Corporate Law and Policy.

Commentary

Though his views were often not made into law, Commissioner Jackson consistently distinguished himself by always supporting his positions with solid reasoning. Open to engagement and to the back-and-forth nature of informed debate, he has been just the kind of person that one would want at the SEC.
