The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation ("DTCC") agreed to connect its forthcoming tokenization service to the Stellar public blockchain, with tokenized assets expected to be available on the Stellar Network in the first half of 2027.

The agreement between the DTCC and the Stellar Development Foundation, an open-source blockchain used for securities, payment and remittance, builds on a no-action letter the SEC issued in December 2025 authorizing DTC to implement and operate a new service to tokenize real-world, DTC-custodied assets. DTCC said the tokenized assets will carry the same investor protections, entitlements and safeguards as traditionally held securities and that the service is intended to give market participants faster settlement, greater asset mobility, extended trading hours and lower cost and risk.

The integration with Stellar is expected to support rapid conversion of traditional assets into tokenized form and the full asset lifecycle, including corporate actions and reporting. In the interim, DTCC and Stellar said they will work together to evaluate tokenization use cases for eligible asset classes, including highly liquid assets such as constituents of the Russell 1000, ETFs tracking major indices and U.S. Treasury bills, bonds and notes.
