House Oversight Chair Seeks SARs Related to Jeffrey Epstein

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer requested that the Treasury Department provide Suspicious Activity Reports ("SARs") tied to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

In a letter to the Treasury Secretary, Representative Comer said the records are needed to evaluate enforcement failures and guide potential legislative reforms. He cited investigative missteps, oversight of non-prosecution agreements, gaps in detecting financial activity, and potential ethics violations. He emphasized Treasury’s authority to share SARs with Congress.

Representative Comer requested a response by September 15, 2025.
