Paul S. Atkins Sworn in as SEC Chair

Paul S. Atkins was sworn in as the 34th Chair of the SEC.

Mr. Atkins was nominated by President Trump on January 20, 2025, and was confirmed by the Senate on April 9, 2025.

Most recently, Mr Atkins served as chief executive of Patomak Global Partners, a strategic advisory firm he founded in 2009. Mr. Atkins served as an SEC Commissioner from 2002 to 2008 and before that, held senior staff positions under former SEC Chairs Richard C. Breeden and Arthur Levitt.

He succeeds Mark Uyeda who served as Acting Chair for three months.
