Treasury Appoints Rodney Hood as Acting Head of the OCC
The US Treasury Department appointed Rodney Hood to serve as the Acting Comptroller of the Currency, effective February 10, 2025. Mr. Hood succeeds Acting Comptroller Michael J. Hsu.
Mr. Hood previously served as Board Chair for the National Credit Union Administration ("NCUA"). He was confirmed by the US Senate in 2005, and again in 2019, to serve in that role.
Commentary
Comptroller Hsu was a proponent of policies supporting DEI and climate risk regulation of banks (Comptroller Hsu Addresses Forthcoming Climate Risk Guidance and Importance of Diversity). He also emphasized perceived risks of crypto (Acting Comptroller Hsu Calls for "Responsible" Approach to Tokenization/AI Innovation). The transition from Mr. Hsu to Mr. Hood will have significant policy consequences.
