Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott Sets Agenda

Chair Tim Scott identified legislative and oversight priorities for the Senate Banking Committee in the 119th Congress. Priorities include promoting financial inclusivity, increasing access to capital, advancing affordable housing, developing a framework for digital assets and overturning burdensome regulations.

Among the priorities, Mr. Scott said the Committee would: (i) reexamine "recent regulatory proposals that reduce the ability for financial institutions to provide new and innovative financial services;" (ii) pursue reforms to make the SEC "more transparent and accountable to the American taxpayer and Congress;" (iii) "build a regulatory framework that establishes a tailored pathway for the trading and custody of digital assets;" (iv) strengthen sanctions to combat cyber threats and ensure supply chain resilience; (v) "reduc[e] the bureaucratic regulations that delay commonsense infrastructure projects;" and (vi) hold agencies accountable, overturn burdensome regulations and confirm qualified nominees.
