Introducing "Consumer Finance Review"

We are pleased to share the first issue of Consumer Finance Reviewan offshoot of US Regulatory Intelligence and a brand-new monthly publication of Norton Rose Fulbright.

Because US Regulatory Intelligence covers such a broad range of financial policy and regulation, we commonly receive requests to focus on specific subject matter or specific policies. In response, we have regularly highlighted these areas by sharing a legal memorandum or otherwise devoting special attention to it.

Consumer finance regulation has been a burgeoning area since the passage of Dodd Frank and its creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ("CFPB"). The growth in this area of regulatory law, and the impact new and proposed rules will have on the financial industry has increased demand for more objective insight. Last week's Supreme Court ruling affirming the constitutional validity of the CFPB will likely lead to even more pressures on entities involved in providing financial services to consumers.

While US Regulatory Intelligence will continue its broad scope of coverage including as to CFPB developments, Consumer Finance Review will focus exclusively on the latest developments and regulatory issues in consumer financial services and products. The first issue includes a discussion of the Supreme Court decision, the latest in the CFPB's "junk fees" efforts, and other recent high profile CFPB developments.

We want to give a special recognition to Eamonn Moran, a Norton Rose Fulbright lawyer and former counsel in the Office of Regulations at the CFPB, for leading this focused initiative.

For our readers involved in this area, we are confident that Consumer Finance Review will be a valuable new tool. You can subscribe here.
