SEC Names New Inspector General
The SEC named Deborah J. Jeffrey the agency's new Inspector General, effective May 7, 2023.
Ms. Jeffrey will succeed Katherine Reilly, Helen Albert and Rebecca Sharek, who have served in a rotating capacity as SEC Acting Inspector General.
According to the announcement, Ms. Jeffrey served as Inspector General of AmeriCorps since 2012, providing oversight for national service grants, initiating a grant fraud enforcement program and spearheading efforts to "improve financial management and accountability." Prior to that, she was a lawyer in private practice for over 25 years, engaging in white-collar criminal and civil enforcement defense cases.
