FINRA Re-opens Request for Comments on Proposed Exemption from Trading Activity Fee for Proprietary Trading Firms

FINRA re-opened the comment period on a proposed exemption from the trading activity fee for proprietary trading firms.

As previously covered, Regulatory Notice 15-13 explains that the SEC's proposed amendments to Exchange Act Rule 15b9-1 ("Exemption for certain exchange members") would require a proprietary trading firm relying on the current exemption to register with FINRA if the firm continued to engage in OTC trading, or trading on an exchange of which it was not a member. In addition, FINRA seeks comment on a new list of related questions.

Comments must be received by March 17, 2023.
