Comment Deadline Set for CFTC RFI on Climate-related Financial Risk

Comments are due by August 8, 2022 on a CFTC Request for Information concerning risks to the derivatives and commodities markets presented by climate change. The notice was published in the Federal Register.

As previously covered, the CFTC solicited information on the risks to the underlying commodities markets caused by climate-related events and risks from evolving policy, including:

• transition risks, which concern market-based responses to climate risk, particularly efforts to reach a "net-zero, low-carbon economy"; and

• physical risks, which concern threats to the supply chain and other critical financial activities due to climate-related incidents.
