SEC Investor Advocate Rick Fleming to Leave Agency

SEC Investor Advocate Rick A. Fleming will leave the agency on July 1, 2022. Marc Sharma, Chief Counsel, will serve in a leadership role until a new Investor Advocate is appointed.

In its announcement, the SEC stated that Mr. Fleming served as the first Director of the SEC Office of the Investor Advocate, serving since February 2014. The SEC highlighted that under Mr. Fleming's leadership, the Office (i) created avenues for investors to communicate with the SEC, (ii) analyzed investors' impact on regulatory governance, (iii) identified investment products that cause problems for investors and (iv) created means to survey investors and related products.
