SEC Extends Pilot Program on Market-Wide Circuit Breakers

The SEC extended a pilot program on market-wide circuit breakers in NMS Stocks. The extension runs from March 18, 2022 to April 18, 2022.

The SEC published in the Federal Register the extension of the pilot program under FINRA Rule 6121.02 ("Market-wide Circuit Breakers in NMS Stocks"). The SEC stated that the extension is needed to provide additional time to permit FINRA to prepare a proposed rule change to make the market-wide circuit breaker pilot program under Rule 6121.02 permanent.

The pilot period extension is immediately effective and comments may be submitted to the SEC until April 12, 2022.
