SEC Appoints Director of the Municipal Securities Office

The SEC appointed Dave A. Sanchez to direct the Office of Municipal Securities ("OMS"). The SEC Office of Municipal Securities "coordinates the SEC’s municipal securities activities and administers the Commission’s rules pertaining to municipal securities brokers and dealers, municipal advisors, investors in municipal securities, and municipal issuers." Mr. Sanchez succeeds OMS Acting Director Ernesto A. Lanza.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Sanchez was in private practice advising municipal issuers, broker-dealers and municipal advisors. He had previously served as an Attorney Fellow at OMS, where he spearheaded a number of policy initiatives, including assisting with a key municipal securities market report and helping to formulate the "permanent registration regime for municipal advisors."
