Hawaii-Based Engineering Consultant Sentenced for Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Violations

A U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Hawaii sentenced an engineering and consulting company owner to 30 months in prison for his role in an international bribery scheme.

According to the DOJ, Frank James Lyon and his co-conspirators attempted to secure contracts for his company by bribing Micronesian and Hawaiian state officials. Mr. Lyon pled guilty to violating anti-bribery provisions under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and committing federal program fraud.

In a related matter, a Micronesian government official also pled guilty for his role in the scheme.
