MSRB Names Chief Regulatory Officer

The MSRB named Lanny Schwartz as Chief Regulatory Officer. The appointment is effective April 24, 2018.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Schwartz was a partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where he led the trading and markets group. His practice focused on providing regulatory counsel for broker-dealers, banks, swap dealers and other entities.
Prior to Davis Polk, Mr. Schwartz was executive vice president and general counsel of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. He also worked as director and counsel for Bankers Trust Company.
Commentary
Lanny is smart, thoughtful, careful, fair, and an excellent lawyer. At a time when regulation is becoming ever more complicated, the MSRB is fortunate to be able to hire a professional with such a broad range of management experience.
