CFTC MRAC to Discuss CCP Default and Insolvency Scenarios at Upcoming Meeting
The CFTC Market Risk Advisory Committee released the agenda for its June 27, 2016 public meeting on Central Counterparty ("CCP") regulation. The meeting will focus on what happens when a CCP defaults or becomes insolvent.
Items to be discussed include: what CCPs can do during a crisis to (i) improve communication among themselves, (ii) coordinate the scheduling of traders, (iii) develop default drills, (iv) coordinate auction processes, and (v) mitigate the effects of any legal, operational or logistical barriers to the CCPs' coordination of efforts.
