OCC Provides Guidance for Examiners on Student Loans

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency ("OCC") published a new booklet in the Comptroller's Handbook titled "Student Lending." The booklet provides guidance for examiners on assessing the quantity of risk associated with private student lending and the quality of student lending risk management.

The booklet also highlights unique aspects of student loans, industry practices, and the differences between federal versus private student loans.
