CFTC and EPA Sign MOU to Share Renewable Fuel Standard Data

The CFTC and the Environmental Protection Agency entered into a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow the agencies to share Renewable Fuel Standard ("RFS") data and analyses. Under the agreement, the agencies will coordinate their work on topics related to the implementation of the RFS program and the market for renewable identification numbers.

The MOU states that the CFTC's review and analysis of the information will assist in protecting the public by providing advice to the EPA on conducting possible investigations into potential fraud, market abuse or other violations relating to the generation of, and trading in, Renewable Identification Numbers as well as the trade in renewable fuels, both of which are subject to the EPA's oversight.
