FINRA Podcast: October 2014 Monthly Recap
FINRA released a podcast summarizing the latest FINRA notices, compliance resources and news from October 2014.
The podcast highlighted recent regulatory notices, including:
- Notice 14-38, which announces updates to certain FINRA Rules regarding interpretations of the SEC's capital and recordkeeping rules to reflect amendments recently adopted by the SEC;
- Notice 14-39, which concerns a new filing template made available through the Firm Gateway;
- Notice 14-40, which reminds firms that it is a violation of FINRA Rule 2010 ("Standards of Commercial Honor and Principles of Trade") to add to settlement agreements or any other documents any confidentiality provisions, including confidentiality stipulations made during a FINRA arbitration proceeding, that prohibit or restrict a customer or any other person from communicating with the SEC, FINRA or any federal or state regulatory authority regarding a possible securities law violation;
- Notice 14-41, which provides recommendations for training programs regarding sales practices;
- Notice 14-42, which explains in detail the new amendments to FINRA Customer and Industry Arbitration Codes permitting arbitrators to make a referral during an arbitration proceeding concerning a situation that the arbitrator has reason to believe poses a serious threat; and
- Notice 14-43, which outlines the newly approved Supplemental Inventory Schedule.
FINRA also reminded firms of its upcoming conferences.
