NYDFS Superintendent Maria Vullo Resigns

New York State Department of Financial Services ("NYDFS") Superintendent Maria Vullo resigned and will leave the agency on February 1, 2019.

During her three-year tenure at NYDFS, Ms. Vullo led the adoption of New York's cybersecurity regulation, which requires banks, insurance companies and other covered entities to implement a cybersecurity program to protect consumer data (see previous coverage).

Before joining NYDFS, Ms. Vullo worked at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP as a litigation partner in civil, criminal and regulatory investigations. She also served under then-New York State Attorney General Cuomo as Executive Deputy Attorney General for the Economic Justice Division.
