CFTC Reorganizes Operations

The CFTC reorganized its operations by creating four new divisions: the Division of Data, the Market Participants Division, the Legal Division, and the Division of Administration.

The Division of Data is intended to centralize the agency’s data functions. The Market Participants Division is a combination of the former Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight and the Office of Customer Education and Outreach. The new Legal Division will merge the former Office of General Counsel with the former Office of the Executive Secretariat. The Division of Administration is the result of merging the former Office of the Executive Director with "the customer service elements of the Office of Data and Technology."

The CFTC named Dr. Tamara Roust as Chief Data Officer of the new Division of Data; Joshua Sterling, previously director of the Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight, as the new Market Participants Division; current General Counsel Daniel J. Davis as the head of the Legal Division; and current Executive Director Anthony C. Thompson as head of the Division of Administration. The CFTC also highlighted additional high-level appointments within these new Divisions.
