Congressman Troy Downing

Congressman Troy Downing, and other Republican representatives introduced legislation to expand 401(k) investors’ access to alternative assets.

Mr. Downing said the "Retirement Investment Choice Act" would direct "the Department of Labor (DOL) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to reduce regulatory barriers prohibiting investments like private equity, real estate, and digital assets from being eligible for inclusion in 401(k) retirement plans."

The bill is intended to codify President Trump’s August 7, 2025 Executive Order "Democratiazing Access to Alternative Assets for 401k investors."
