FTC Bureau of Competition Director to Step Down

FTC Bureau of Competition Director D. Bruce Hoffman will leave the agency in November 2019. FTC Chair Joe Simons stated that he intends to appoint Ian R. Conner, who is the current Deputy Director of the Bureau of Competition, as Mr. Hoffman's replacement.

During Mr. Hoffman's two-year-long tenure, the FTC challenged 42 proposed mergers, and created the Technology Enforcement Division to investigate potential anti-competitive conduct in U.S. technology markets.
