CFTC and Australian Securities and Investments Commission Sign MOU to Enhance Supervision of Cross-Border Regulated Entities
The CFTC announced that CFTC Chair Tim Massad and Australian Securities and Investments Commission ("ASIC") Chair Greg Medcraft signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") regarding the cooperation and the exchange of information in the supervision and oversight of regulated entities that operate on a cross-border basis in the United States and Australia.
The CFTC and ASIC expressed their willingness to cooperate in the interest of fulfilling their respective regulatory mandates and reducing systemic risk. The scope of the MOU includes:
- markets and organized trading platforms;
- trade repositories; and
- intermediaries, dealers and other market participants.
