U.S. and U.K. to Form Transatlantic Taskforce on "Markets of the Future"
The U.S. Treasury Department and the U.K.'s HM Treasury announced the formation of a joint "Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future."
Treasury explained that the purpose of the taskforce is to: (i) explore near- and long-term opportunities for collaboration on digital assets and related financial innovations, and (ii) strengthen links between U.S. and U.K. capital markets by easing cross-border capital raising and enhancing competitiveness.
Treasury said the taskforce will be co-chaired by officials from both agencies, will report within 180 days through the UK-U.S. Financial Regulatory Working Group and will include regulators and industry stakeholders to ensure practical, market-focused recommendations.
Treasury added that the initiative aims to promote innovation and growth in global markets while keeping regulatory approaches aligned across jurisdictions.
