Opening Statement, Second Open Meeting to Consider Final Rules Pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Act

In her opening statement for a meeting that took place last week, CFTC Commissioner Sommers echoes Commissioner O'Malia's call for "a thoughtful plan on how the Commission will logically sequence its consideration of final rules, along with a transparent implementation plan that will allow for a reasonable phased-in approach," and expresses her opposition to two proposed rules that were "added just a couple of months ago to an already full agenda and are not required by Dodd/Frank.'
