OFAC Designates Nicaraguan Government Officials for Human Rights Abuses
OFAC designated Nicaraguan government officials for human rights abuses.
According to OFAC, the four officials: (i) persecuted Nicaraguan citizens who attempted to exercise their "fundamental freedoms"; (ii) enacted "repressive laws"; (iii) "silenc[ed] news media"; and (iv) "denie[d] medical care to the Nicaraguan people." All property and interest in property of these individuals in the United States are now blocked, and must be reported to OFAC. Additionally, all U.S. persons generally are prohibited from dealings that involve these individuals.
