Paul Atkins, SEC Chair
SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the SEC will solicit public input on how it should respond to recent changes in the exchange-traded fund market, including the emergence of novel products such as event contract ETFs.
In a statement, Mr. Atkins said he instructed the agency staff to gather that input. He also reported that fund sponsors had delayed the effectiveness of several new ETFs, including event contract ETFs, while the SEC considered the implications.
Mr. Atkins said ETFs remained a major driver of innovation in the securities markets, noting that ETF assets tripled since 2019.
