Finance Leaders and Congressional Representatives Debate Green Funding Initiatives

Leading financial services industry participants and lawmakers from Congress examined the role of the capital markets in funding green initiatives at a SIFMA roundtable. The event included the following congressional participants: Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Representatives Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Chris Gibson (R-NY) and Paul Tonko (D-NY). Capital markets participants at the event included Kyung-Ah Park, Head of Environmental Markets Group, Goldman Sachs; Kurt Vogt, Managing Director, Sustainable Financing, HSBC; Pat Quinn, Managing Director, Nomura Securities International; and Zachary Solomon, Vice President, Public Finance Group, Morgan Stanley.

The debate centered on the expanding role of U.S. capital markets in providing innovative financing solutions for the green energy sector. Participants covered a variety of topics, including an overview of global trends for green finance, innovations, economic impacts and opportunities and challenges.
