NFA Video on Registration Process: The 4s Document Submission Process for SDs and MSPs (with Lofchie Comment)
The National Futures Association ("NFA") posted a video webinar that provides a step-by-step walk-through of the process for firms registering as swap dealers or major swap participants to submit documentation to show compliance with the Section 4s implementing regulations, as is required by the CFTC. Among other things, the video (i) provides useful information for registering non-U.S. entities; (ii) also provides information on the process the NFA uses to review 4s documentation; and (iii) strongly urges firms to have their 4s documentation submitted one to two weeks prior to provisional registration.
Lofchie Comment: On its podcasts, which are much shorter than this video, FINRA uses two voices, one male and one female. The NFA uses a single male voice throughout. The FINRA voices also vary more in pitch and tone, while NFA goes for a calmer sound, almost a monotone. Plus, FINRA begins with a lively musical introduction, which helps get me into the right mood to listen to detailed recaps of FINRA's monthly activities, and then it uses music again to signal transitions in content. Please let me know which regulator's tutorial approach you prefer and I will pass along your views to the appropriate officials.
