SEC Commissioner Aguilar Posts Mutual Fund / FSOC Comments in Harvard Law School Forum (with Lofchie Comment)
In his recent post on the Harvard Law School's Forum on Corporate Governance, SEC Commissioner Luis A. Aguilar republished remarks made at the Mutual Fund Directors Forum's 2014 Policy Conference on April 2.
Lofchie Comment: Commissioner Aguilar's speech was notable for its criticism of the FSOC's intrusion into areas of the expertise and authority of the SEC, particularly the FSOC's intrusion into the regulation of mutual funds. While the two Republican Commissioners had criticized the FSOC previously, Commissioner Aguilar effectively made critical views on FSOC the bipartisan and majority position of the SEC Commissioners. Further, the Commissioner made the effort to post his FSOC remarks in the Harvard blog, where they will receive additional attention.
