CFPB Requests Information on "Inherited Rules"
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ("CFPB") issued a Request for Information ("RFI") on consumer financial rules and rulemaking authorities that were conferred to the CFPB from other agencies ("inherited regulations"). The CFPB is seeking feedback on (i) possible changes to the rules, and (ii) whether the CFPB should issue any new rules pursuant to inherited rulemaking authorities. The RFI was published on March 26, 2018.
A previous RFI was issued regarding rules promulgated by the CFPB that were not inherited from other agencies.
Comments will be accepted until June 25, 2018.
