NIST Provides Cybersecurity Tips for Teleworkers

The National Institute of Standards and Technology ("NIST") provided cybersecurity tips for teleworking during the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to NIST, employees should consider:

  • learning more about their employers' rules and policies governing teleworking;
  • taking steps to protect communications from eavesdropping;
  • utilizing virtual private networks ("VPNs") when doing work on their telework device;
  • enabling basic security features when using a personal computer or mobile device;
  • keeping computers and mobile devices patched and updated; and
  • reporting any suspicious activity that takes place on a device.
