SEC Commissioner Allison Herren Lee to Step Down
SEC Commissioner Allison Herren Lee notified President Joseph R. Biden that she will not seek a second term as Commissioner. Ms. Lee’s term expires in June; she agreed to remain on as Commissioner until such time that a successor is appointed.
Ms. Lee has been with the SEC since 2005. Before becoming Commissioner, she served as Counselor to former Commissioner Kara Stein and Senior Counselor in the Complex Financial Instruments Unit. Notably, she served as Acting Chair in 2021 before the confirmation of SEC Chair Gary Gensler.
Chair Gensler commended Ms. Lee for her service, highlighting her focus on climate related disclosures during her tenure as Acting Chair.
