CFTC Postpones "Commitments of Traders" Report Following Third-Party Cyber Attack

The CFTC postponed the publication of its weekly Commitments of Traders ("CoT") report for the week ending February 17, 2023 due to delayed reporting in the wake of a recent cyber attack on ION Cleared Derivatives. According to the CFTC, delays created a backlog of reporting dating back to February 3, 2023. The CFTC said that it hopes to publish the CoT report for the week ending February 3, 2023 by February 24, 2023.

ION Cleared Derivatives is a third-party service provider of cleared derivatives order management, order execution, trading and trade processing that experienced a cyber attack beginning on January 31, 2023. The cyber attack caused the derivatives clearing services provider to shut down its affected servers, which resulted in delayed reporting of data.
