FINRA Announces Effective Date for New Arbitration Code Requirement That Parties Use Online Dispute Resolution Portal
FINRA notified member firms that the SEC approved proposed amendments requiring most parties to use the FINRA Office of Dispute Resolution Party Portal to submit documents and view arbitration case information. Exceptions to the requirement include pro se parties, who will not be required to use the portal (though they may elect to do so), and parties to a mediation proceeding, who may choose to use the portal on a voluntary basis.
The final amendments will become effective for all cases filed on or after April 3, 2017.
