The Futures Industry Association ("FIA") published the eighth issue of FIA SEF Tracker, a periodic report on trading activity taking place on swap execution facilities ("SEFs"). This issue contains data for the month of October and shows volume trends and market share for interest rate, credit default and foreign exchange products. The trading data shows that Bloomberg dominates the credit trading market (with over 70% of volume), while a few SEFs have meaningful shares of the FX trading market. The Office of Financial Research ("OFR") issued its 2014 annual report which assesses threats to U.S. financial stability, outlines OFR research supporting the assessment and evaluates policy initiatives for promoting financial stability. According to the report, the OFR and financial regulators made "significant progress" since the last annual report in assessing the buildup of vulnerabilities in the financial system, including improvements in the scope of financial data and the implementation of new policy tools. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency ("OCC") issued a bulletin informing of forthcoming fees and assessments to be charged by the OCC for calendar year 2015. The bulletin – which was addressed to all national banks, federal savings associations, and federal branches and agencies of foreign banks – becomes effective January 1, 2015. See: OCC Bulletin.
The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council ("FFIEC") released the revised "Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering ('BSA/AML') Examination Manual." The manual is intended to provide guidance on risk-based policies and procedures for institutions in order to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act, as well as safeguard operations from money laundering and terrorist financing.
