The New York Department of Financial Services ("NYDFS") supervises New York State-chartered banks and credit unions, as well as certain other banking entities chartered in other States or overseas that have a representative office, branch or agency in New York. In addition to banking entities, NYDFS supervises other types of financial institutions, including check cashers and money transmitters. NYDFS regulates a number of different types of entities involved with the issuance of mortgages, including mortgage bankers, mortgage brokers, mortgage loan originators and mortgage loan servicers.
This page includes the principal regulatory interpretive materials and enforcement actions relevant to banking entities, mortgage entities and money services businesses published by the NYDFS. For similar materials for the other principal banking regulators, see the topic pages for each of the CFPB, the FDIC, the Federal Reserve, the FHFA, the OCC, and the NCUA.
