SEC Small Business Advocate Promotes Use of Capital Raising Resource Hub

SEC Deputy Director of the Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation ("OASBCF") Sebastian Gomez Abero touted the "expanded capital raising pathways" available under the 2012 JOBS Act and urged practitioners to utilize resources now available in the SEC's consolidated Capital Raising Hub.

In remarks at SEC Speaks 2022, Mr. Gomez Abero stated that, in collaboration with the Division of Corporation Finance, the OASBCF consolidated the SEC's capital raising and small business resources into one central location, the Capital Raising Hub. He said that the hub now contains information regarding (i) the different exemptions from registration, (ii) the SEC review process for going public and (iii) compliance guides summarizing rulemakings that impact small businesses.

Mr. Gomez Abero said that the improved hub now contains (i) an interactive navigation tool to help users identify which path of capital formation suits their needs, (ii) discussion papers that address common capital formation issues and concerns and (iii) a simplified explanation for commonly used terms in capital formation to help demystify the process. He encouraged participants to continue to provide feedback to help improve the hub.
