CFS Essay on Lack of Prosecutions of Wall Street Executives by Brad Bondi and Chris Jones

Cadwalader Attorney and Senior Fellow for Legal Studies at the Center for Financial Stability ("CFS") Bradley J. Bondi and Cadwalader Attorney Christopher Jones examine the reasons for the dearth of prosecutions of Wall Street executives in their report titled "Emotion Is No Substitute for Evidence: An Essay on the Lack of Prosecutions of Wall Street Executives Stemming from the Financial Crisis."

The authors state that a call for executive-level liability for the financial crisis rightfully reflects public outrage. Yet, the authors illustrate, outrage at Wall Street for participating in a system that ultimately crashed does not lead to prosecutions and convictions.

According to the essay, poor management or a lack of foresight by Wall Street executives does not mean the individuals willfully engaged in fraudulent conduct.
